Quarterly Report
June 2001
Representation
Following the recent CCH AGM's decision to develop a new fee structure, a new membership drive has just taken place in the recently distributed Bulletin. Membership remains static at 173 member organisations.
Policy
The CCH's co-operation in housing strategy, which is a wide ranging document that details how the CCH intends to move forward over the next few years, has also now been published. This strategy document develops the CCH's partnership relationship with the Co-operative Union and the UK Co-operative Council, the bodies that represent the UK co-operative movement.
Key elements to the strategy include:
Stock transfer
The CCH has produced a strategy paper for community control through stock transfer. It is intended that a Co-op Party pamphlet will be produced in which the CCH paper will form the first part.
Best practice in community control for RSLs programme
Work has started on this programme, which forms a key part of the Housing Corporation's Communities in Control strategy. The programme will develop a range of community control options for tenants and residents and disseminate these options. The tendering process for consultants to work on the process is now in hand.
Community Land Trusts
The CCH is developing its feasibility study in Birmingham into Community Land Trusts, which is being jointly funded through Birmingham City Council and the Housing Corporation.
The CCH has also played a role in working with the Co-op College to investigate training requirements for housing co-ops.
Promotion
We are currently investigating Liverpool as a possible venues for the next CCH annual conference on 22nd/24th March 2002. The CCH are also investigating holding regional seminars in London and Bristol.
The CCH has attended the following events in the last two months:
